Nigerseed is an important oil crop in parts of India, where it is grown by tribal farmers, in traditional agriculture systems.Nigerseed is grown in the tribal areas and it has now found commercial uses. Tribals have been growing nigerseed through generations without using any pesticide or insecticide.India is reported to have total nigerseed production of 200,000 tonnes (t) . In India niger seeds are used to make a dry Chutney eaten alongwith breads. They are also used as a spice in some curries as Indian are known for thier spicy food haibts.
